Maha Navami is the ninth day of Sharad Navratri, devoted to Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Durga. In South India it is Ayudha Puja, when tools, vehicles and books are worshipped, and in Bengal it is the last full day of Durga Puja. In some years Navami and Dussehra fall on the same date.
Good to know
Dussehra (Mahanavami) is a restricted holiday for Central Government offices. Banks in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the eastern states usually close for Maha Navami or Ayudha Puja under the RBI list.
